As a bridge to completion and implementation of HCBS rate-setting work, FSSA announced Workforce Investment Grants in November 2022. This $130 million grant opportunity is available only to HCBS providers that employ DSWs
We are excited to announce when approved for the grant fundings:
In efforts to establish good recruitment and great retention, Senior Home Care LLC plans to direct the funding from the Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant to (1) retention & sign on bonuses to DWS’s (2) training/development and pathways to ensure financial compensation.
Senior Home Care LLC plan to spent 55% of our grant fundings on:
· Retention & Sign on bonuses, & Recruitment
And the other 45%:
· On direct service providers ongoing training, & development.
With the help of the Direct Service Workforce Investment Grant, Senior Home Care LLC will offer a list of trainings that include First Aid, Nutrition, Client Enrichment, Alzheimer's/Dementia, Knowledge of Different Types of Equipment, Client Hygiene and Personal Care, and Knowing the Signs of Elder Abuse.
By providing additional funding to DSWs by sign on and retention bonuses, the agency will be able to retain DWS’s, and focus on hiring more qualified DSW’s.
DSWs in Indiana wages are currently estimated to be less than the national average and less than Indiana living wages, according to the Living Wage Calculator by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Our goal is to change the narrative to a positive outcome with development and opportunities to be more career oriented.
